Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, approves domestic flights for Anambra International Passenger and Cargo Airport.
NCAA chief executive, Capt. Musa Nuhu, conveyed the approval in a letter to Gov. Willie Obiano dated yesterday 1 December.
The approval for flights at the airport takes effect from today, 2 December 2021.
The approval is however restricted to Category B aircrafts which must take off and land only in daytime.
NCAA promised to give comprehensive clearance once the State Government fulfills outstanding requirements.
Gov. Willie Obiano had gone ahead to commission the airport without having any planes land.
Capt. Nuhu explained that the State Government’s original request to commission the airport on 30 October was turned down based on security reports.
The Agency said it has now received clearance from security authorities, hence the approval.
It asked the state government to adhere strictly to the safety, security and Covid-19 requirements at the airport.
NCAA also refused flights clearance to commercial airlines without counters at the airport.
A few local airlines including Airpeace, Ibom Air, and United Nigeria had indicated interest with flights to the airport.
