YouTube records over billion online views for songs from two modern Nigerian highlife artists, P-Square and Flavour.

As at today, 30 August, Flavour’s songs hit 1.03billion while those of Peter and Paul (P-Square) Okoye have 1.02billion views.

The duo joins a trio of Nigerian talents whose songs garnered over one billion views on YouTube. The pacesetters are Burna Boy (1.49 billion), Wizkid (1.41 billion), and Davido (1.16 billion views).

Flavour, born Chinedu Okoli, began his musical career from Enugu, the Coal City where he was born xxx years ago. He began his musical career in Enugu in 2005. His remix of the hit single “Nwa baby” shot him into the limelight in 2010.

He has seven studio albums to his credit and has won several awards for his music genre.

The twins, Peter and Paul drew their musical inspiration from late music idol, Michael Jackson. They started in Jos as break-dancers before forming a music group in 1997.

YouTube is an online video sharing and social media platform. It was launched 17 years ago by three partners, Steve Chen, Chad Hurley, and Jawed Karim.

Google bought the network 15 years ago for N1.65billion. This proved to be a strategic acquisition as the channel now contributes 11 percent of this trillion dollar company.

YouTube is the second most visited website in the world after Google Search.
