Ten persons have so far died from the Coronavirus pandemic, according to the latest figures released by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) today 11 April.

The number of recoveries announced however continued to rise at 22 percent of all reported cases.

The number of deaths has doubled within a week, fueling fears that the country has entered the crucial stage in the battle with the virus, with more testing being done.

The rate of infection has also continued to steadily rise. NCDC announced today that 13 new cases of Covid19 has been reported, with Kano State making a landfall for the first time in Kano State.

Yesterday, it was Anambra and Niger where the virus had made a landfall, bringing half of Nigeria’s 36 states into the virus infection zone.

This brings the total cases reported to date to 318.

At 175 cases, Lagos State continues to account for more than half of the entire number being reported from Nigeria, followed at a distant second by FCT (20) and Osun State (20) that has suddenly overtaken all the other States. The remaining two states among the top five – which also happen to have 10 cases and above – include Edo (12) and Oyo (11).
