The Federal Government has ordered Unity Schools that have completed their second term examinations to close immediately while others should hurry and vacate within a week.

Deadline for all schools is Thursday 26 March, according to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Sonny Echono, as quoted by the Daily Sun newspaper.

He however said that the ministry is monitoring developments and might change its mind and go for immediate closure of schools that have not completed their exams as well.

The measures are to “protect and safeguard the lives of students/pupils from the deadly (coronavirus) scourge.”

”We have directed all higher institutions to close this weekend. Unity Schools that have completed their exams are to close immediately. Others are to hurry and close the latest on 26th March,” he was quoted to have said.
