Nigeria shoots past 3,000 cases of Covid-19, SE Zero

Both the South East and the South South were spared of new cases today as the country shot above 3,000 new cases of Covid-19 which is making a slow but steady advance into various states.

In a report released by the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) a few minutes ago today 7 May 2020, Lagos and the North West States continue to post the worst results in terms of new infections.

Of the 103 new cases of Covid-19 confirmed today by the NCDC, Lagos (82) and Kano (30) continued to lead in new cases, followed in the top five by Zamfara (19), Sokoto (18), and Borno (10).

Today’s NCDC report of 195 new cases, collated from 13 States, shows a marginal increase of 47 new cases from the 148 that was reported yesterday. It is however also the second lowest figure in May.

NCDC said 53 cases fully recovered and were discharged while five died, the same number of deaths as yesterday.

Other States reported under-10 cases each and they include hitherto high-scoring FCT (9), Oyo (8), Kebbi and Gombe (5 each), Ogun (4), Katsina (3) and Kaduna and Adamawa (1 each).
