The Ministry of Health of South Sudan has reported its first case of the Coronavirus infection, becoming the 44th African nation to be touched by the virus.
The country’s index case is a 29-year of female who returned from Netherlands on 28 February.
Over 8,900 cumulative cases have now been recorded for the African continent, with 399 deaths.
South Africa continues to maintain the lead of both highest rate of infection and very low mortality, followed by Algeria (1,251), Egypt (1,070), Morocco (960, Cameroon (650) and), Tunisia (553).
