Both pleaded guilty to the charge of holding a party with more than 20 persons present contrary to the recent social distancing restrictions embodied in the law passed by the State House of Assembly.
They will perform the community service five days for each week, visit 10 important places to teach about the need to obey the restriction orders, and supply the names and phone numbers of the party attendees, failing which the magistrate who sentenced them will impose more sanctions.
Ms. Akindele had made strenuous efforts to mitigate the error she committed, including putting out a public video where she offered profuse apologies for hosting a party for dozens of people, in violation of the rules on lockdown of Lagos State.
She explained in the video that the people in the party video which she posted on social media, and gave her game away, were workers and participants in an upcoming movie who were staying in the same location at Ibeju Lekki Lagos.
Those participants were trapped when the lockdown was announced and remained in her work place, including the musician Naira Marley who the Police is hunting for to equally arrest.
The Police had announced that they have arrested Naira Marley, the musician, and will also charge him to court for the same offence.
