The Vincentians in Enugu

The Congregation of the Missions, aka The Vincentians are in Enugu.  It's an international congregation of priests and brothers, founded in 1625 in France by St. Vincent de Paul. Hence they are commonly referred to (in Nigeria) as the Vincentians.

The Vincentians have their provincial headquarters in Enugu. They are community people; priests and brothers live together sharing in common Vincentian heritage. Vincentians belong to the Society Apostolic of Apostolic Life.

Charism and Spirituality
The Charism of the Vincentians is to reach out to the poor through the good news as expressed in their traditional apostolate of evangelizing the rural people and preparing people for ministry in the Church.

The spirit of the Lord is upon me. He has sent me to bring the good news to the poor.

Apostolate (in Nigeria)
There are over 10,000 Vincentians working in over 60 countries of the world. They are found in Europe, America, Asia, Africa, etc.

The Vincentians are working in the following dioceses in Nigeria: Enugu, Oturkpo, Idah, Nnewi, Orlu, Ikot Ekpene, Ijebu-Ode and Abeokuta.

We also work in Abuja, Warri, Port Harcourt, Lagos and Onitsha Archdioceses.

Our apostolate includes preaching of retreats and missions, running of parishes, seminaries, schools and Colleges.

Vincentians have been outstanding in training of catechists, spiritual direction to Institutions and, Prison Chaplaincy
