Ebonyi State Government names new Airport after President Muhammadu Buhari, a spokesperson said today, 26 April 2023.

A statement announcing tomorrow’s commissioning of the facility identified the Airport as “President Muhammadu Buhari International Airport, Onueke.”

Information Commissioner, Orji Uchenna Orji signed the statement.

Gov Umahi hopes the project transforms Ebonyi State to “the economic hub of South East,” Orji said.

He confirmed that Aviation authorities approved inauguration of Flight Operations at Onueke tomorrow, Thursday 27 April 2023.

The event will begin at 11.00 a.m.

The Governor also approved that six persons per Local Government Area join the test flight from Abuja and Lagos.

The State will bear the cost of their tickets, Orji said.

Orji heaped lavish praise on the airport facilities, its beauty, and the vision of the Governor.

The quality of the state-of-the-art facilities that adorn the Airport positions Ebonyi State as “one of the destinations of World travels and tourism that inspire global marketplace for travel trade.”
