Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) has been rated one of the poorest at addressing and resolving customers’ complaints, as at December 2019.

EEDC shares this poor rating with Ibadan Disco, according to the latest tabulation of complaints lodged with the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) and released on Monday by the agency.

NERC said in the 2019 fourth quarter report that it received a total of 177,807 complaints from electricity consumers against Nigeria’s 11 Electricity Distribution Companies (DisCos) during the period.

This was 2.88 per cent more than the 160,842 complaints received during the third quarter, the Agency said

Three major areas of customer anger include “estimated billing, metering, and service interruption” and these accounted for two-thirds of all complaints (64.52%), NERC said.

NERC has Forum offices it set up to monitor and audit customers’ complaints handling and resolution process by DisCos.
