Enugu glows for LIMCAF 2019 as the final exhibitions open tomorrow at the IMT International Conference Centre.

IMT International Conference Centre, Enugu, is hosting the 13th Edition of the Life in my City Arts Festival (LIMCAF).

Various activities to mark the Enugu finals of LIMCAF 2019 begin tomorrow Monday, 11 November 2019. Top on the agenda is the exhibition of winning entries from the zonal competitions.

Artists, art enthusiasts, curators, art buyers, and students have five full days to appreciate the range of artworks and media. Zonal judges selected the finalists sent to the finals in Enugu, capital of Enugu State, Nigeria.

Further selection of winning entries was left for the Nsikak Essien-led finalist board of judges. They examined winning entries and selected national prize winners for the grand closing ceremony on Saturday.

The climax is on Saturday 16 November.

Among other features of this year’s event is a festival lecture on Tuesday 12 November by emeritus Professor Ola oloidi. He is a renowned professor of art history and art criticism, as well as a children’s art workshop.

Iconist artist, Prof. Bruce Onobrakpeya chairs the Saturday, 16 November grand gala and award night.

ABOUT LIMCAF

Life In My City Art Festival was established in 2007. It is an annual celebration of creativity featuring young talents in the Nigerian art landscape.

The Grand Finale features works of art from young people across the country. Winning entries come from over 600 works exhibited annually in 11 exhibition centres across Nigeria.

The promoters registered LIMCAF as a Trusteeship in 2012 under the name Life In My City Art Initiative. The festival features visual art competition, pan-African photography contest (Photo Africa), school children’s and art teachers’ workshops. There are also the multimedia workshop and the Award and Gala Night.

It is Arguably the biggest art event in Nigeria. Artists compete for the over 3 million Naira prize money awarded every year. It is also the largest gathering of young artists, patrons, scholars, gallery owners and stakeholders in Nigeria’s visual arts.
