Federal authorities yesterday extend a full lockdown by two weeks in Kano State and said it would slow down a bit the phased relaxation of lockdown in the FCT, Lagos and Ogun States.

The slow-down of the relaxation of strict lockdowns in the three areas is due to what Boss Mustapha, chair of the Presidential Task Force managing the Coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria, said was “rampant” disobedience of the rules by citizens in these areas.

He said at the daily briefing today that “in spite of the modest progress made, #Nigeria is still not ready for full reopening of the economy”

He said modest progress were made in the last two weeks and that his committee will step up messaging to get citizens to do the right things that will slow down spread of the virus.
