A group of Nigerian professionals teams up to purchase presidential nomination forms for Peter Obi, former Anambra State Governor.
The forms costing N41.0 million were presented to Obi at his Onitsha residence yesterday 1 April.
The calling itself Like Minds For Peter Obi collected the forms a day before at the PDP Secretariat, Abuja.
Leader of the group, Daniel Wilbert, said they are a collection of young professionals from all fields of endeavour nationwide.
Wilbert, from Warri, Delta State, described himself as a professional practising in the energy sector.
He said the group strongly believes that Obi, based on proven records, will be able to “turn our sinking country around.”
The former Governor’s performance in office and his “evident positive antecedents” stands him out of the pack, he said.
Thus, members of the group were motivated to rally round him in full support for the journey to Aso Rock.
Gov Obi has yet to declare for the position. He invited Anambra natural rulers to a meeting and informed them about his intent and equally asked for their blessings.
Obi expressed gratitude to the group for their belief in him, to the level of “purchasing the very expensive forms.”
He assured the members that he will prove to them and other Nigerians that such level of trust they place on him is not misplaced.
He also promised yo make a formal declaration in a matter of days.
“My formal declaration is coming in a few days, where I will roll out my manifesto.
“I will promise before hand that I will not say a word I won’t fullfil if given the chance.
“I have so much interest in the future of the youths of this country.”
He also said he is putting finishing touches to “a blueprint that will turnaround this country.”
He will unveil blueprint will be unveiled on the day he formally makes a declaration to run, he said.
