Ohanaeze Ndigbo celebrates Igbo Day 2023 beginning on Thursday 28 September with a public lecture, officials said in a statement.
A clergyman, Prof. Godfrey Onah, who is the Catholic Bishop of Nsukka Diocese. will deliver the lecture at the Old Government Lodge.
Igbo Kunie is the theme of this year’s celebration.
The Grand Finale is on Friday, 29 September 2023 at the Okpara Square, Independence Layout Enugu, beginning at 10.00a.m.
The finale ceremonial will feature cultural march past by Ohanaeze state branches, display of local crafts, special delicacies native to various parts of Igboland, display of Igbo Indigenuous technology, and traditional chants. The governors of the southeast states are the hosts with Enugu Governor as chief host. While Igwe Lawrence Agubuzu, CFR, chairman of Southeast traditional rulers and Igwe Alfred Achebe, the Obi of Onitsha, are the royal fathers of the day.
