Former President Goodluck Jonathan (seen above) guides a seemingly unsteady presidential candidate, Gov Bola Tinubu, around his Abuja home today.

Mr. Tinubu paid a courtesy visit to the former president at his Abuja home today. The visit lasted a couple of hours, according to an attendee.

It was held in camera and the participants kept mum after emerging from Dr. Jonathan’s residence.

“His visit to Jonathan shouldn’t come to anyone as a surprise,” the Punch newspaper quoted a participant.

“Tinubu holds no grudges with any political leader whether within the party or in the opposition,” he said.

He was accompanied by his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima, and five APC governors of Plateau, Ogun, Zamfara, Jigawa, and Kwara.

The Plateau Governor, Simon Lalong, is Director-General of his Presidential Campaign Council.

Health Concerns

A picture of a sprightly former President leading Mr. Tinubu by the hand has broken the internet as it is feverishly shared on social media.

Mr. Tinubu’s health is a subject of intense disputations in the media, full of twists and slants.

He will however not be the first candidate to run for office while battling health challenges. Late President Umaru Yar’Adua was also on a hospital bed while President Olusegun Obasanjo campaigned for him nationwide.

The opposition is eager to show that he does not have the capacity and strength to govern after seeing his unsteady carriage during public outings. However, his supporters retort that Mr. Tinubu remains mentally alert and this is all that a president needs to govern.
