Father Ejike Mbaka returns to his Adoration Ministry to dismiss his followers and to admonish them on their poor conduct.

He did not say Mass but simply dispersed them with a warning to be of good behaviour as they left.

Father Mbaka told the small crowd that the order from the Bishop to suspend Adoration activities is still in force.

“I’m a priest of the Catholic Church and the Bishop is my father. I swore an oath to obey him and his successors; I cannot do otherwise.”

He asked them to stop coming to the Adoration Grounds until there is another directive to resume.

“I have come to bless you and to dismiss you. I don’t want you to go to the main road … and be pugnacious or to be cantankerous.

“I don’t want the Adorers to be violent. I don’t want Adoration people to be classified as bandits for we’re not bandits. We’re obedient children of God.

“We love the mother church and the mother Church loves us so much.”

Asked when they can return, Mbaka told them that they have to wait for the Bishop to lift the restrictions.

He expressed sadness that some members were publicly castigating the Catholic Bishop of Enugu and asked them to desist .

“We appreciate our Bishop and henceforth, I want to order everybody here, to stop Insulting the Bishop.

“We can’t forget all his goodness to us.”

“This is a time we show our Bishop love, speak good of him. Don’t write anything negative of him.

“To insult the Bishop is to insult me directly,” he told the crowd.

He also forbade them from abusing Gov Peter Obi but to pray for him.

“Gov Peter Obi is one of us (member of the Adoration Ministry), he’s our brother and friend,” he said.

Bishop Callistus Onaga of the Catholic Diocese of Enugu on 18 June barred Catholics from further attendance or participation in Adoration Ministry activities.

The restriction followed after Father Mbaka publicly mocked Labour Party candidate Peter Obi as a stingy man. He also claimed that Obi may not succeed in his quest to become President presumably because of “stinginess.”
