The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) announced today that it is mobilizing efforts to construct and equip 12 hospitals and six world-class diagnostic centres across Nigeria.

Group Managing Director, Mallam Mele Kyari, said in Abuja today 4 April 2020 that two hospitals and a world-class diagnostic centre will be located in each of the six political zones and that the project will stand as NNPC’s commitment to social investment beyond its ongoing community social responsibility programmes.

“We are embarking on construction of at least two permanent hospitals and a world class diagnostics centers in each of the geopolitical zones in the country.

“All these are over and above our regular social investments through various CSR initiatives,” Mallam Kyari said.

Mallam Kyari explained that the donation was collaborative, drawing support from the Energy Group, the private sector and a Chinese company, CCECC, to fight COVID-19 pandemic.

The announcement was made at a ceremonial where Minister of State for Petroleum, Chief Timipre Sylva, handed over five ambulances donated by Aiteo Exploration and Production Company Limited, an NNPC Joint Venture Company partner, to the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19.
