Foreign Affairs Minister, Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama (@GeoffreyOnyeama), yesterday 27 May 2020 pleaded for patience from Nigerian nationals trapped in China in the wake of airport shutdowns worldwide, following the outbreak of the new Coronavirus.
He informed them via his Twitter handle that as soon as the new protocol for evacuation of citizens abroad is firmed up, they would be given priority in the next batch of evacuation.
He announced the format of the new evacuation protocol yesterday in Abuja at the regular daily briefing of the Presidential Task Force on Covid19.
The priority consideration for China, he said, arose from peculiar challenges that they face more than others that are equally trapped all over the world.
Onyeama said at the briefing that he expects that the protocol for the new evacuation procedure could be completed as early as next week.
