African Peoples Alliance (APA), an opposition party, has rejected the results of the local government election announced today by the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC), describing the election process as “an electoral malfeasance.”

A 345-word statement signed by Barrister Chukwunonso Ogbe, chairman of APA in Enugu State, accused the victorious Peoples Democratic Party of multiple voting to win the elections.

The statement, released to the press this evening, promised that the APA will go into action to ensure good governance in the State.

“To the products of the democratic rape carried out in Enugu State yesterday, you all should get ready for action. The monies meant for the local government tier of government in Enugu State, must be used for the good of the people of Enugu State,” the party said.

APA asked PDP loyalists who are “gloating over” the way they carried out “multiple voting in an unprecedented manner” to await the judgement of posterity.”

Here’s the APA statement in full:

“Good evening wonderful people!

“On behalf of the members of APA family in Enugu State, I wish to thank the good people of Enugu State for the support they gave to us throughout the period the 2020 Enugu State local government council election campaigns spanned.

Ogbe voting yesterday at Enugu South LGA. He was a chairmanship candidate as well.

“We are grateful to our teeming supporters who voted us on the 29th day of February 2020.

“The result of the 2020 local government council election in Enugu State has been announced by the ENSIEC Chairman today, the 1st day of March 2020.

“The result of the election as announced is unacceptable to the members of APA and to all lovers of justice in Enugu State.

“Congratulation to the men and women of Enugu State who made a bold statement yesterday through their votes, that they seek to have a better Enugu State.

“To those acting at the behest of the PDP led government in Enugu State in perpetrating electoral malfeasance while gloating over it, I state that posterity will judge you all. To those who subverted the will of the few electorates who voted on the 29th day of February 2020 in Enugu State, posterity will judge you all.

“To ENSIEC officials and members of the PDP who embarked on multiple voting, in an unprecedented manner; I state that the day of reckoning is not too far. We are not deterred, neither are we broken. Rather, we have defeated our fears, and we are marching forward. It is not yet over until it is over.

“To the products of the democratic rape carried out in Enugu State yesterday, you all should get ready for action. The monies meant for the local government tier of government in Enugu State, must be used for the good of the people of Enugu State.

“I make bold to state that PDP as a political party lacks the moral right to question the anomalies perpetrated by APC, going by what the PDP-led government in Enugu State and ENSIEC did in Enugu State yesterday in the name of local government election.

Thanks and God bless.”
