Atiku wins Buhari’s home state of Katsina

Youth-propelled Labour Party candidate, Peter Gregory Obi, defeats Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his native Lagos.

This is a rare upset for the Lagos strongman who has not lost a single election in 24 years.

Obi led the final vote tally for the 25 February presidential Election with 582,354 votes while Tinubu trailed with 572,606 votes.

Although the Labour Party won, it expressed dissatisfaction with the margin of victory, and vowed to challenge it in court.

The party therefore asked agents to compile authenticated results from polling units to challenge the margin in court.

Other candidates, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) failed spectacularly in the polls.

Atiku gained 75,750 votes, Rabiu Kwankwaso (NNPP) got 8,442 votes while Adewole Adebayo of Social Democratic Party (SDP) managed to win 772 votes.
