Al Masry football club of Egypt on Sunday 8 December in front of their supporters at the Port Said Stadium Alexandria, defeated Rangers football club of Enugu by 4 goals to 2.

The Match started 5.00 pm as scheduled by CAF with Rangers in high spirits to redeem her image from disappointing defeat from another Egyptian Club on Matchday 1.

In the first 5 minutes of play, Al Masry through striker Anthony Amutu opened the score sheet for the host. Other goals were added in the 27th, 48th and 83rd minutes through Ahmed Yasser, Meftah Taqtaq and Hassan Ali to the delight of their supporters.

Rangers appeared to wake up in the second half of the match. Chinonso Eziekwe who substituted Nnamdi Egbujuo in the 74th minute succeeded to put the ball into the Egyptian net in the 87th minute, assisted by Ibrahim Olawoyin.

Rangers at this point mounted more pressure on the host 18 yard box, the ‘never say die attitude’ of the ‘flying Antelope’ manifested and it resulted to an own goal in 90th minutes from their defender Saïdou Simporé to the credit of Rangers.

Japhet Opubo was at the goal post, Chidera Ezeh, Isaac Loute, Issif Traore, Isiaka Oladuntoye, Tony Shimaga, Christian Madu (Ifeanyi George 54′), Kelvin Itoya (Uche John 42′), Chiamaka Madu, Ibrahim Olawoyin and Nnamdi Egbujuo (Chinonso Eziekwe 74′). Other players at the bench: Nana Bonsu, Kenechukwu Agu, Ikechukwu Ibenegbu and Sadick Abass, with Coach Sanisu Yusuf in charge.

In the same group A, Pyramids of Egypt defeated Nouadhibou FC of Mauritania by 6 goals to Zero. The two Egyptian teams have 6 points each while Rangers and Nouadhibou are yet to earn a point.

Rangers is third in the group with goal difference but only 2 clubs are to proceed to the next level.

Next Rangers match in CAF Confederation Cup is with Nouadhibou of Mauritania on 29th December in Mauritania.
