The Board of Rangers International Management Corporation flew into a rage this evening and disbanded the Team’s coaching crew after the Flying Antelopes suffered a third serial defeat in the ongoing 2019/2020 Premier League contest.

Ex-international, Sylvanus Okpala, has been drafted to immediately replace Coach Benedict Ugwu aka Surugede, after the disbanding of the entire coaching crew.

Okpala who had handled Rangers in the past will lead the Flying Antelopes when they begin their CAF Confederate Cup campaign at home on 1 December 2019.

Sylvanus Okpala … immediate takeover

Rangers’ tale of woes climaxed this evening when the team lost 0- 2 to newly promoted Akwa Stars of Akwa Ibom State at the Nnamdi Azikiwe international Stadium, Enugu.

It was the Team’s second home turf defeat within a week.

Exactly a week ago, on Sunday 17 November, Rangers were equally humiliated 0 – 1 on their home ground by the MFM Football Club of Lagos.

Three days later, the team travelled to Port Harcourt and gifted a 1 -2 victory to Rivers United through a last minute own goal, after holding on to a 1-1 scoreline at full time.

The Enugu team’s management said this evening that it has deemed it necessary to sack the Technical crew of the club.

Today is Matchday 5; Rangers has lost 3 matches, drawn 1 and won 1, an outcome that has set the tongues of fans wagging in frustration.

The sacked technical crew had hitherto earned praise for qualifying Rangers to the group stage of the ongoing continental CAF Confederation Cup campaign but has not lived up to expectations in the local league.
