Enugu Metro admits 10 OND and university undergraduate students each year for a 12-week paid internship at our Enugu headquarters. On request, we deploy interns to serve at our bureaus in Abakaliki, Awka, Owerri and Umuahia.

The Programme admits students with diverse interests – in technology, advertising, marketing, product and design, and data journalism.

Who can apply for the internship?

We accept applications from university and polytechnic students enrolled in degree and diploma programmes in the areas of journalism, graphic arts, advertising, public relations, and marketing.

What about recent graduates? Can they apply?

No. If you are a recent graduate waiting for call-up to the mandatory national youth service program, consider applying instead for the eMetro Newsroom Fellowship Programme. Additionally, we welcome those who recently completed their national service to apply as Affiliates or watch out for and apply for our job recruitment openings which as advertised in Enugu Metro.

When can I apply?

We follow the academic programmes of partner academic institutions to publish our internship openings. Our catchment area is the Southeast and South-south regions. Students studying in institutions in this region are welcome to apply. Therefore, kindly follow us on our social media pages and on this site to see when the application window opens. Can one seeking for a place to learn during the mandatory 12-month post-ND work experience apply?

For diploma students seeking placements for their one-year work experience, it’s a tough call. Consider applying for the Fellowship program if you are confident in your abilities. We expect you to be exceptionally talented, attain an upper credit or higher grading in the ND program, and pass our evaluation test. All of this will enable your Fellowship application to be considered alongside degree and higher diploma applicants.

Can I work remotely as an intern?

No. However, residents of Southeast and South-South states may apply to do the programme in these states. All must attend scheduled in-plant trainings in Enugu or other states during the period of internship.

Are interns paid?

No, they are not. We pay them through intensive training that gets them job ready. Interns however receive weekly transport allowance. They also earn most generous commissions on deals that they successfully close for the company. We also pay give those who successfully passed our practical tests transport and out–of pocket allowance
