Where’s the competition?

You cannot hope that your event will be the only thing happening that day, in which case there is a chance that most of those invited will show up. Imagine fixing an event on a Friday in any part of the South East region of Nigeria. That will be a tall order (a) if the event is happening on Friday afternoon (when most people will be attending funeral ceremonies in the countryside) or (b) on a Sunday (when most are in church). If you are a pastor and you decide to stage a revival crusade on any of those days, well good luck to you. If you are burying someone, it might be worthwhile to check out if any of the key people you want to invite have other invitation. There is a fierce competition in events ceremonies and it is worthwhile to consider this competition before taking a firm date.
