Who owns the PeterObiNation app which is available for download on the GooglePlay Store?
Gov Peter Obi today, 12 July 2022, disowned the mobile application.
The Labour Party flagbearer said in Enugu that his campaign.did not authorize the app. He also said his campaign has not recorded the name as a support group
He therefore expressed fears that his opponents may have created the app to discredit him.
“I don’t know about the application; it is not from me or any campaign organisation known to us.
“You know people can do everything to pull me down,” he told an interviewer in the city’s Urban Radio.
The candidate has become overly suspicious of things ascribed to him or his family ostensibly by his online supporters.
His enthusiastic supporters have however downloaded the app over 10,000 times, leaving rave reviews on the Google app store.
While some praised the app, others suggested that the creators include details about Obi’s running mate, Dr Datti Baba-Ahmed.
The creators launched the app on 22 June 2022. It is however only available on Google Play Store for now.
The creators said they launched the app to “promote the Peter Obi Nation Movement.”
There is as yet no support group with this name.
Nevertheless, the app has generated positive reviews from users, leading to a very high 4.9 out of 5.0 rating.
There were also a handful of reviews that cautioned those enthusiastically downloading the apps.
Who owns PeterObiNation app?
This is how the creators described the app on Google Play Store:
“An application to promote the Peter Obi Nation Movement towards the forthcoming 2023 polls.”
Google listed the creators Gist360 Incorporated with an address at Omaha, Nebraska in the United States.
Our search on the location however returned only a law firm that has a distinct Diaspora Nigerian name similarity.
We are yet to get a response on our request to the law firm to assist us track Gist360 in the same premises.
Similarly, we also drew a blank while attempting to trace registration and contact details of owners of domain name peterobination.org.
The owner(s) did a private registration on GoDaddy to hide their identity. This is however not unusual. It is standard practice for owners to add a layer of security to their domains if they wish.
