The management of NPC, the National Population Commission, postpones training of Census 2023 for enumerators and their supervisors.

NPC spokesperson, Dr. Isiaka Yahaya, announced the postponement in a statement today 12 April.

NPC had concluded logistics for the training and was set to invite participants before the sudden change of mind.

Dr. Yahaya however assured the public in the statement that preparations for the exercise was ongoing and irrevocable.

The training, billed for takeoff tomorrow 12 April at local government level nationwide,.

Enugu Metro learn that states where invitations had been sent out were asked to withdraw them and await further directives.

“We assure Nigerians that the Commission remains committed to conduct a credible and acceptable 2023 Population and Housing Census,” Dr. Yahaya said.

He advised the public to disregard any message contrary to the official information, even as the Commission regretted inconveniences that the postponement may cause the functionaries.

The Commission fixed 3 May 2023 as commencement day of Census 2023, the first to be conducted in 17 years.
